Issues That Matter

1

Livable Wages

We are staunch advocates for fair compensation for hard work. A living wage isn't just about numbers; it's about dignity, stability, and the ability to provide for our families. My parents successfully raised six children while earning minimum wage. However, the cost of living has surged, and it is imperative that we raise the minimum wage to a level that truly allows individuals and families to thrive. Our policies must reflect this new reality.

2

Affordable Housing

The roof over our heads is not just shelter; it's a fundamental right. We advocate for housing that does not burden us but allows us to thrive and build brighter futures. Housing should be accessible, safe, and affordable for all, regardless of income.

3

Investing in Youth

Our young ones are the architects and leaders of tomorrow. We believe in nurturing their potential by providing quality education and opportunities that pave their way forward. During the 1990s, Briggs offered computer science classes that facilitated students in earning technical certifications. It is crucial that we reintroduce these opportunities to our current students. By doing so, we can equip them with the necessary skills to flourish in the dynamic technology landscape and secure well-paying jobs.

4

Quality Mental Health Care

Mental well-being is as vital as physical health. We strive for accessible, stigma-free mental health services, recognizing that a healthy mind is the key to a healthy community. Tragically, my family has personally experienced the devastating loss of a loved one. We understand the profound importance of prevention and the need for reform and investment in mental healthcare services. We must prioritize mental health services, reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues, and ensure that everyone has access to the care they need.
